LIMEN VIII-IX CONCERT | FULL PROGRAM

Pre-liminal, Liminal and Post-liminal

Tonight, you can encounter multiple works from the cycle Līmen (which among others includes electroacoustic works with live video mapping, immersive sound installations, works for conventional acoustic instruments, large ensemble work, electroacoustic compositions and even a piece for a symphonic orchestra). Tonight’s events are divided into two stages and you can participate in a ‘Pre liminality’ through an immersive concert installation as well as through a concert of new works written for a Basel based Concept Store Quartet, by composers such as Paul Clift, Tilen Lebar, Uroš Rojko and Aled Smith.

Tilen Lebar – Līmen VIII (concert installation) 17:30 – 20.00

The first stage and therefore event ‘Pre liminality’ includes metaphorical deviation of the present state and forms a minimalistic and repetitive sonic environment throughout the immersive sound installation titled LĪMEN VIII. The concert installation intends to present the first mutation of the sonic material that initially reveals the sound of an extensive improvisations with an electroacoustic guitar.

The project is supported by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia

Concept Store Quartet – Re-Set (concert) 20:30 – 21:30

The second event presents one of the phases of ‘Post liminality’ and among other pieces Līmen IX that includes spectral interpolation and spectral mutation between the acoustic instruments and electronics. It evolves through a sequence of 16 different ‘chords.’ Still, it feels somehow static (i.e. from the harmony, sound and macro form point of view). The spatialised movements of electroacoustics throughout the sound allow it to come to life and to arouse. The conclusion of the three stages of the transitioning reflects ‘Liminality’. It takes over a new identity where the third type of complexity represents the trembling sensation and acoustical beatings within the quartet, tape and live electronics.

The second concert includes new works written by composers Uroš Rojko, Aled Smith, Tilen Lebar and Paul Clift.

The ‘Post liminality’ beside the work by Tilen Lebar (SI/NL) – Līmen IX includes new works by composers such as Uroš Rojko (SI/DE) – Running Out of Time IV B, Aled Smith (GB/PL) – Patterns of Self-sabotage and Paul Clift (AU/CH) – Colours are like memories of other colours II, to reevaluate and redefine the ‘Post-liminality’ and Re-Set our particularity within.

All the works are premiere performances and are supported by Pro Helvetia and Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in The Hague.
